Flight Court

Jordan Brand has long been known for creating top-quality basketball trainers that also work as stylish lifestyle sneakers. In 2024, the brand leaned into the latter with the Flight Court – a silhouette honouring iconic Air Jordans from years gone by while establishing a bold new look all of its own.

The Jordan Flight Court features a casual, low-profile design with a mixed-material upper made from plush suede and soft leather. A large mudguard wraps around the back half of the shoe, woven panels add breathability to the flanks, and the TPU eyelets at the front of the collar offer dual lacing options for excellent lockdown. These elements are reminiscent of classic silhouettes like the third, fourth and fifth Air Jordans, giving the Flight Court a familiar feel.

The shape of the sole unit also evokes Tinker Hatfield’s legendary designs, its interior filled with foam cushioning for lightweight comfort. Underfoot, the rubber outsole is segmented, with herringbone grip lines set at various orientations to provide omnidirectional traction. Different areas are decorated in varying tones, and star-shaped nodes appear on the forefoot, as they have on many other Jordan sneakers.

Classy branding details are displayed across the Flight Court, beginning with “Flight” text and a Jumpman logo on the outsole. The same lettering is embroidered into the lateral ankle in a stylised cursive font, and another Jumpman printed onto the insole. More logos have been woven into the heel tab and tongue, thus rounding out the shoe’s captivating heritage effects.

With its chunky profile and generous padding, particularly around the tongue and heel, the Jordan Flight Court also hints at the brand’s connection to the skating community. Over the years, many Jordan sneakers have become unofficial skate shoes, and this one has the potential to do the same.

In fact, the silhouette debuted at the end of 2024 through a collaboration that recognised this skater-friendly aesthetic. Designed by Téla D’Amore, co-founder of luxury streetwear brand Who Decides War, this dark, elegant version features premium, comfort-focused materials and reinforced darning on areas prone to wear out during skateboarding. D’Amore’s distinctive sneaker was highly anticipated after it was revealed during New York Fashion Week in late 2024, building excitement around the general release that arrived shortly after.

The Jordan Court Flight brings together some of the best elements of its famous predecessors to create a new silhouette that already feels like a classic. Comfortable, durable and stylish too, it is the perfect homage to Jordan Brand’s sporting heritage, whether that be on the basketball court or at the skatepark.
