Jordan 1 High x Spider-Man

This Jordan 1 High x Spider-Man sneaker comes in the classic tones of Jordan’s Chicago Bulls, with a series of blue highlights signifying the influence of the fan-favourite superhero, who wore the shoes in the 2018 animated movie. Aptly named Origin Story for the film’s depiction of Miles Morales’ first adventures as the new Spider-Man, the shoe rests upon a translucent blue outsole with circular grip structures emanating across the forefoot, lugs looping around the heel and a Nike-branded indentation in the centre. This is topped with a white midsole whose soft foam cushioning provides a comfortable bed for the foot to step onto as the wearer moves about.

A smooth white base layer of premium leather can be seen on the midfoot panels and toe box of the upper, the former tapering into a thin strip as they reach towards the heel, the latter marked with breathable perforations. Gym Red overlays have been placed atop this, forming the forefoot mudguard and the two pieces of leather behind it, as well as the eyestay, the heel counter and the collar wrap. All are covered in reflective Ben Day dots – visual spots that are used to add texture to comic books and which were applied alongside other visual techniques throughout the Spider-Verse movies. While these elements bring a unique styling to the outer, the black Air Jordan Wings on the lateral collar produce the iconic AJ1 look, as do the black leather swooshes that reach down the shoe’s flanks.

More contrastive effects appear elsewhere on the model, firstly with the black laces that criss-cross over the white tongue. The collar then switches back to black, with the same colour lining the inner walls too. A surprising splash of Photo Blue on the insole evokes Spider-Man’s instantly recognisable outfit. Gym Red Nike text has been printed onto its surface, and a similar tonal mix completes things at the top of the tongue. Here, there is a Photo Blue label with Gym Red branding woven through it, thus concluding this compelling, movie-inspired design.
