Jordan 4 Retro
This Jordan 4 Retro sneaker has been given the moniker Lightning to reflect its dynamic use of colour. Despite this, its outsole begins with more muted tones as the majority of its surface comes in Dark Blue Grey – a suave hue somewhere between black and grey. This is contrasted by a white patch below the forefoot and another smooth piece of rubber through the middle of the outsole. In the centre of this last piece, a Tour Yellow Jumpman logo offers a hint of what’s to come on the upper. Meanwhile, multidirectional herringbone grip patterns make the wearer steady on their feet before the white midsole adds comfort via its visible Air unit in the heel.
The Dark Blue Grey parts of the outsole extend into the midsole around the toe and along the lateral flank, where a cone-shaped section divides the white polyurethane component of the sole unit, creating an intriguing aesthetic. Atop this rests a Durabuck upper filled out in more Tour Yellow tones. This stunning sandy hue covers the forefoot overlay, the piece of material that encircles the whole shoe from front to back and the quarter section that encloses the top of the foot. Black netting forges an offbeat effect in three areas over this last panel, including at the bottom of the tongue. Here, it extends behind the Tour Yellow laces to merge into the tongue.
Two cages with a glossy black coating have been positioned either side of the tongue to accommodate the laces. A structural wing in Dark Blue Grey is attached to the top one on each flank, its other end set into the overlay above the Air window. The insole brings a further white accent, a Dark Blue Grey Jumpman decorating its surface, before velvety Tour Yellow fabric provides softness around the ankles as it constitutes the inner lining. The Dark Blue Grey backing of the tongue is similarly padded and features a Tour Yellow patch with black Air Jordan text sewn into it.
At the back of the shoe, the large heel panel is made of Tour Yellow Durabuck to match the rest of the upper. A black Jumpman silhouette is set into its surface, the delicate line of stitching around its edge accentuating the famous logo even further. Finally, a square Jordan Flight label has been placed on the tongue, its black surface acting as the perfect backdrop for the light grey Jumpman and Tour Yellow Flight text to stand out against.
