Jordan 4 Retro
"Midnight Navy"
DH6927-140
The light tones found across this Jordan 4 Retro create a clean aesthetic that makes for an elegant sneaker. Beginning underfoot, the outsole, whose omnidirectional herringbone grip patterns provide excellent support, brings together all four of the colours used on the shoe. Light Smoke Grey is the first, covering the two sections in the heel and the toe cap, while white fills out the smooth part that starts in the heel and moves below the midfoot, a Fire Red Jumpman beaming out from its centre. The third hue, this bright shade of crimson also appears on an oddly shaped piece below the forefoot, and the rest of the outsole comes in a dusky blue known as Midnight Navy. This rich tone continues upwards into the toe of the midsole and down the lateral flank, where it curves upwards to form a small hump in the midfoot. Meanwhile, the medial part of the midsole has a layer of white beneath a Light Smoke Grey one, the former with visible Air in the heel, the latter decorated with flecks of Midnight Navy.
The upper is made from white leather with a smooth finish. This fine material shapes the forefoot overlay, the main panel that runs through the middle of the shoe, the quarter and the collar. The first two segments are edged with parallel lines of stitching, giving the whole sneaker a finely crafted look. On the heel is a large panel with a fan-shaped pull tab at the top, its dimpled surface easy to hold on to. Its Light Smoke Grey exterior contains the same speckled effect as that seen on the midsole, and a Midnight Navy Jumpman has been embossed onto it. At the top, its pull tab rises just a little higher than the white topline, which is thickly padded to protect the ankle. This soft cushioning forms the inner lining all the way down to the Midnight Navy insole. A white Jumpman resides upon the latter feature, while the same tonal contrast can be found above it on the underside of the tongue as its Midnight Navy surface is adorned with a white Air Jordan patch. Additional variation occurs here, though, via the Fire Red stitching that forms a rectangle around the edge of the patch.
Back on the outer, a series of captivating features cover the top of the foot. Emerging from behind the forefoot overlay and moving towards the tongue is a white netting that allows the toes to breathe. Two more similar areas of mesh decorate the sides of the quarter panel, offering further aeration through the flanks. Just behind these lie the triangular wings that bolster the sidewalls. Coated in the same mixed colouration as the midsole and heel panel, they connect to Midnight Navy lace cages on each side of the tongue. Two more land at the bottom of the tongue, their fanning eyelets holding the white laces firmly across the top of the shoe. Lastly, the white tongue hosts a square patch in the same tone, and sewn into it is a Midnight Navy Jumpman above Fire Red Flight text, thus finishing off this Jordan 4 with a colourful embellishment.
