Nike Air Force 1 React

Translucent materials give this AF1 React an intriguing, otherworldly look. Its bifurcated design means that it appears in two main sections, the front one covering the vamp and the back one extending from the front of the midfoot panel to the heel. In the forward portion, smooth synthetic white leather wraps around the forefoot, and the perforated toe box is overlaid on top. On the lateral side of the forefoot, a small embroidered swoosh appears in Coconut Milk, and another bar of embroidery in the same colour has been sewn into the foot of the eyestay. This feature is also made of white leather and has a dual line of stitching enclosing the eyelets. An offbeat effect is created by two of these eyelets as the uppermost one on the lateral side has a brown metal ringlet around it, while on the medial side, it is the fourth one up from the bottom which has this element.

Moving back into the second part of the shoe, the midfoot is made of a translucent material through which Light Iron Ore colouring can be seen. This gives way to another partially see-through panel in the rear that has a nylon mesh grid pattern across it. Beneath this, a mixture of Light Iron Ore and Coconut Milk is visible, the former colour more as an extension of the midfoot, and the latter wrapping around the heel behind it before also extending along the underside of the eyestay. Although the medial flank has no swoosh, a strip of white leather rests above a printed band of Coconut Milk along the medial heel. These reach over the back of the shoe to become a pair of swooshes on the lateral flank, creating a compelling aesthetic.

On the back of the sneaker, a layer of Coconut Milk material forms the heel tab, with a white collar rising up above it and more white fabric apparent below it through the translucent covering. A brown pull tab with Coconut Milk spots emerges from the heel just above a set of Coconut Milk Nike Air embroidered lettering. The broad white padded tongue is debossed with a swoosh, below which black Nike Air branding is printed onto the insole.

Elsewhere, the sole unit also appears in two pieces. The front part is white around the midsole and most of the outsole, though two sections are cut out of the circular grip patterns to reveal the spongy React foam underneath. This soft Coconut Milk padding makes for an eye-catching look around the midfoot and rear portion of the sole unit as its translucent material alters the appearance of this creamy tone. A final captivating detail is displayed on the medial midfoot, where a gap in the translucent part of the sole reveals more React foam that lends the shoe added arch support as well as giving it a distinctive look. Here, it appears to ooze out into the upper just below the midfoot, for a final unique touch.
