In the early 2020s, Nike introduced a range of retro-inspired lifestyle sneakers based on classic running shoe designs. In 2024, the brand added to this lineup with a women’s exclusive silhouette called the Nike AL8.

Taking inspiration from 90s fashion, the AL8 features a breathable mesh upper overlaid with angular panels made out of fine suede and smooth leather. Small embroidered swooshes add an elegant touch to the sides of the forefoot and the centre of the heel, while another logo has been lightly debossed into the dual-layered, triangular tongue tab. Intricate stitching can be found across all the overlays, with some lines tripled up and others darting off in unexpected directions to create an offbeat look.

The midsole of the Nike AL8 is bold and chunky, with a smooth exterior and a soft foam interior for maximum comfort that supports everyday wear. A ridged shank brings textural variation to the midfoot, and the wavy edges of the dual-stacked heel complement the dynamic overlays on the upper. Meanwhile, the rubber outsole has a classic Waffle tread pattern below the forefoot, with flex grooves that facilitate easy movement. 

Many of these details elevate the AL8 in both style and comfort, giving it strong nostalgic appeal. Its most standout features, though, are the woven swooshes located on its sidewalls. Displaying a knitted weave through the centre, each plush logo is outlined with thick embroidery for a powerful look.
