Smooth black leather creates a suave look on this Air Force 1 ‘07. In fact, black is almost the only colour to be found on the design, with just a couple of exceptions. The sole unit is completely black, including over its pivot-circle grip patterns that support the wearer’s step. The midsole then comes in with a pocket of Air in the heel, a feature highlighted by the Air lettering rising up from the lateral side of the midsole.

On the upper, sleek leather panels in the toe box and midfoot are overlaid by a mudguard around the forefoot, an eyestay across the top of the foot and a heel piece that wraps around the entire rear part of the sneaker. While these provide a durable covering for the foot, the perforation holes in the toe box and midfoot bring aeration around it. Since the Nike Air text sewn into the heel panel and tongue patch are both black, they blend in with the rest of the design, but the branding effects on the insole are much more visible. The right one has a white crest with the words “Nike Air” and “Air Force 1” printed over it in black, while the left has a similar but smaller emblem with the number 82 in it, thus signifying the year that the very first AF1 model came out.

Meanwhile, the inner lining has been filled out with extra padding to offer further comfort around the ankle. Back on the outer, the shoe’s flanks are defined by large black swooshes that are also made from glossy leather. Then, a silver sheen emanates from the silver lace lock that sits at the bottom of the black laces. Its surface is etched with a rectangular border within which is a set of AF1 lettering that affirms the brand once more.
