Nike SB Dunk Low x Jarritos®

This charming Nike SB Dunk Low x JarritosⓇ is the result of a strong collaboration that has created a truly unique sneaker. Starting underfoot, the outsole features Malachite as its main colour, alongside Safety Orange highlights on the circular pad beneath the medial side of the forefoot, the fan of grip lines that span away from it towards the lateral flank and the indented section placed under the arch of the foot. Within this part, a set of Nike SB branding has been embossed. As the tight grip lines formed across the outsole add stability, the Phantom-toned midsole brings comfort through its use of soft foam padding. Meanwhile, a band of Safety Orange stitching has been sewn around this feature for an intriguing variation in colour.

Switching to the upper, the base layer is made from high-quality leather in off-white Phantom hues which can be seen across the midfoot panels and the toe box, as well as wrapping around the heel just below the collar. This part slopes downwards along the edge of the heel overlay, which is made of a hemp canvas material that evokes the look of the bags the Mexican beverage company uses to collect the fruit used to flavour its drinks. This fabric encompasses the low part of the heel before moving up to rest atop the eyestay, the four eyelets on each side of it ringed with white. Only some of these can accommodate the laces, which can be white, Malachite or Safety Orange depending on the wearer’s preference, while all of those on the hemp canvas eyestay are usable. The bottom end of this feature is overlaid by the forefoot mudguard, which is also formed from one last piece of burlap canvas material.

Along the shoe’s sidewalls, Malachite swooshes made of more soft textiles can be found. These pass over the rear overlay before coming to rest on the midfoot panels, and their external material can be cut away to reveal a layer of Safety Orange underneath. The same can be said of the other overlays, meaning that the sneaker can be reworked to suit the personal desires of the individual wearer.

The rest of the design has been decorated with a series of intriguing pieces of branding, such as the emblem of a Malachite jug pouring Safety Orange juice down onto the lateral midsole – an inventive play on the Jarritos logo. Meanwhile, the white tongue patch carries the more typical trio of Jarritos jugs beside a Malachite swoosh and the letters “sb” in Safety Orange. On the Phantom insole, the Jarritos logo has been printed, with the words Nike SB added alongside the name of the drinks producers. Back outside the padded low-top collar, there is one last set of branding on the mismatched heel tabs. On the left one, Nike text has been embroidered in Malachite with a Safety Orange border, while the right foot contains Jarritos lettering in the same tones upon its Phantom surface, thus completing this one-of-a-kind sneaker.
