Jordan 3 Retro
"White Cement Reimagined"
DN3707-100
This Jordan 3 Retro presents a captivating update to one of the very first AJ3 colourways, hence its nickname: White Cement Reimagined. Released to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the iconic silhouette, it has been built upon a familiar rubber outsole, with broad Cement Grey edges and a small Fire Red piece below the forefoot containing ringed grip indentations. Star shapes have been embossed in rows around the toe, while the heel and part of the medial edge are coated in a retro shade of Sail with Fire Red Nike text rising brightly from its centre. Various blocky grip patterns offer excellent traction to the wearer, before the polyurethane midsole adds comfort via its internal Air cushioning. This bouncy airbag is visible through a window in the heel of the lower level of the dual-layered midsole. Sail covers this lower part and the front half of the top layer, whose back half is black.
The upper, meanwhile, is primarily made of premium white leather. As well as the mudguard that skirts the flanks and the toe, the main overlay comes in this high-quality material, giving the shoe an elegant aesthetic, while the elephant-print overlays around the heel and toe add an offbeat appeal to the look. Their distinctive design is created by two tones of grey, one much darker than the other, and the rear one loops low around the back of the shoe to allow space for the cone-shaped heel panel. This moulded tab has an upper part lined with thick ridges that can be held onto when pulling the shoe on and a lower portion that displays embossed Nike Air branding in solid black.
Mini perforations fill the underlayer that is revealed around the collar and the eyestay, the latter containing TPU half-circles that act as eyelets for the white laces. Lower down, the white leather of the upper overlaps with this underlayer, offering Fire Red ringlets to hold the laces as they move towards the toe. Here, the tongue has been marked with extra ventilation holes to bring even more breathability over the top of the foot, before the upper part of the tongue switches to smooth white leather. Either side of it, black TPU eyelets have been set into the front of the collar to secure the laces at the top.
Internally, the sneaker shows off more striking colours as its sockliner and the back of the tongue are blanketed in a soft Fire Red fabric. A white patch has been sewn into the back of the latter, and the former has a black Nike Air logo printed onto it, the text facing in the opposite direction on each foot. The inner lining finishes the interior in white, before the frontside of the tongue delivers one final splash of colour in the form of an embroidered Fire Red Jumpman, which provides an eye-catching conclusion to this memorable sneaker.
