Nike Zoom Vomero 5

The wonderful blend of tan, beige and off-white tones found across this Nike Zoom Vomero 5 makes it a versatile piece of footwear that can be paired with a whole range of clothing. It rests upon a waffle outsole whose forefoot carries an appealing shade of teal with a dash of Light Chocolate on the toe and just before the arch of the foot. Here, there is a gap in the waffle grip pattern that mixes teal and white, before the heel returns to a loop of Light Chocolate pads, one of which is debossed with BRS 1000 text. This indicates that its surface is coated in a durable carbon rubber material which helps to protect high-wear areas.

A sand-coloured midsole has been placed atop this grippy base, its spongy Cushlon foam providing excellent comfort along with the responsive Zoom Air cushioning held within. Each of these supportive materials is advertised on the lateral side of the midsole, the former around the front of the midfoot, the latter a bit further back and higher up in the Light Chocolate strip that appears on the lateral flank but not the medial one.

Meanwhile, the upper brings together Oatmeal, Sail and Light Ivory hues over its highly breathable exterior. The toe is bolstered by a leather tip, behind which is a set of five mesh panels delineated by the leather frame placed over the forefoot. A Pale Ivory eyestay begins at the rear of the forefoot and is overlaid by the plastic bars that wrap over each sidewall to deliver both structural support and cooling ventilation. More bands of leather decorated in Pale Ivory and Oatmeal tones accent the front and back of these panels, each one culminating in an eyelet to help secure the Pale Ivory laces in place. A Light Chocolate lace loop holds them even more firmly at the bottom, and a piece of textile runs up the centre of the tongue to do the same all the way to the top. This last feature has teal edges and a reflective line through the middle that is joined by additional reflective bands on each side of the toe and heel.

Inside, the padded lining and insole are both blanketed with Oatmeal fabric, the latter hosting a special Bill Bowerman emblem with a picture of the legendary Nike co-founder alongside the words “Bowerman Series”. Above this, on the front of the tongue, there is a Pale Ivory and teal label with Nike Vomero 5 text woven through it in Oatmeal. The heel adds further to the breathable properties of the sneaker with its mesh upper part and the solid housing on its lower section, which has triangular ventilation ports set into its sides. A diminutive teal swoosh sits between these two elements, right in the centre of the heel. Finally, Pale Ivory swooshes adorn the flanks for a classic finish to this lightweight, comfortable sneaker.
